The Autavia collection goes back a very long time and is important in TAG Heuer’s history. Following the redesigned special editions for the 60th anniversary of the Autavia from last year, this new model combines a stainless steel case with a strong and classical black dial. Today we bring you another one that’s quietly released and immediately available, this time from TAG Heuer. We’ve seen it with the Tissot PRX from yesterday, but in the past also with watches like the Omega CK 859 or the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX. This example remains in very good condition and is accompanied by generic TAG Heuer packaging and booklets. It appears that it’s an increasingly common tactic to launch a new watch and not communicate about it whatsoever. A classic, refined and versatile timepiece, the Drive Timer is a routinely sought after gem of TAG Heuer’s modern catalogue. WAR2A10 is a glorious release which celebrates TAG Heuer’s intimate connection with motorsports. In a brushed stainless steel case, this Carrera ref. Accents of red offer a certain dynamic flare to this monochrome timepiece, painted on the seconds hand, 60 second marker, the words ‘Drive Timer’ and most prominently on the lining of this watch’s calf-skin rally strap. Amid the black dial of the Drive Timer is a date window at 3 o’clock. As TAG Heuer were pushing hard for 3-hand chronographs, fans were offered a range of stark, beautiful Carrera dials which encapsulate the simple brilliance of the original 1960s Carreras. In a daring move, TAG Heuer had abandoned their chronograph function in favour of an inner-rotating bezel – a feature for drivers to time their races. Unlike any other Carrera before it, the esteemed Drive Timer was released at Baselworld in 2014 to the interest of the Heuer faithful.
